ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with various aspects of important diseases of field pea and their integrated management practices. Field pea, commonly known as pea, is an important pulse crop having its center of origin in Mediterranean region of Southern Europe and Western Asia, is a winter season crop and is known to be grown worldwide. It is an important high yielding pulse crop that can be used for vegetable purpose when unripen and the dry seeds are used as dal and also as snacks after boiling. The left over part of the plant is used for feeding the cattle. Similar to vegetable pea, field pea is also affected by number of diseases such as damping off, rust, powdery mildew, ascochyta blight, wilt, and root knot, etc., which are reported worldwide. Symptoms appear on all the aboveground parts of field pea plants as well as the crown region below ground level.
