ABSTRACT

The intercellular mycelium of the fungus is coenocytic, thin-walled, hyaline, and produce spherical or pear-shaped haustoria. Grape is the most widely grown fruit crop in India. Maharashtra is the leading grape-producing state followed by Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. Biotic constraints are one of the major constraints in grape production. High humidity, high rainfall and dew, and a heavy dosage of nitrogenous fertilizers favor disease development. Symptoms appear on foliage and twigs. Initially, yellowish, circular, translucent spots develop along the midrib and veins of leaves. Necrotic areas along midrib and veins are the characteristic symptom. Leaves turn yellow, shriveled, and shed pre-maturely.
