ABSTRACT

With increasing infrastructure development, scientists are developing alternative materials for Portland cement; one of these is geopolymer. In this research, fly ash and carbide weld ash are used as binders or substitutes for cement by making cuboidal geopolymer mortar with a size of 5 cm x 5 cm x 5 cm with 150 specimens. The composition of the material used in this study is 50% fine aggregate ratio: 50% (activator + binder) with a binder ratio 60%:activator 40% (NaOH and Na2SiO3 compared 1:2). The test method carried out is compressive strength. The results of the research are: geopolymer mortar with pure fly ash has the highest compressive strength of 16.60 MPa, while geopolymer with 20% carbide weld ash has the highest mortar compressive strength of 17.35 MPa.
