ABSTRACT

The author used to be used to be a sugar baby. Rich men paid her thousands of dollars to be their girlfriend. She advises that when meeting a potential Sugar Daddy for the first time, it is better to pick a public place (like a restaurant) to chat and see if there is a connection. Sex work is the exchange of sexual services for money or goods. Being a sugar baby is a form of sex work. She knew that being a sugar baby would be short lived. It was in the 2011 TV special about sugar babies that she was made aware of her sugar relationship. She says it is difficult for Black women to escape America’s oppressive gaze on her body. Black women are more than their bodies, and she a college graduate, a business owner, but also a hustler, a mover and a shaker, artist, sister, daughter, friend, writer, creator, musician, poet and an advocate.
