ABSTRACT

This section is concerned with neurodiversity as a hermeneutic framework, a community, and a politic, to describe, explain, and mobilise the experience of hearing voices. It makes no claim as to the prevalence or otherwise of hearing voices within a specific population, for example on the overlap between the diagnosis of autism and the experience of hearing voices. Instead it attempts to trace the manifestations of neurodiversity within a distinct culture – the Hearing Voices world.
