ABSTRACT
Leadership as well as teaching are intrinsically an emotional experience and the skills you will learn within the classroom can and should be transferred into your leadership and oversight of adults. The same expectations should be also employed: high expectations; commitment and resilience to getting the task done; support and empathy for others; as well as an honest approach to the amount of time and effort that has been employed to do the task. Leadership involves you creating a vision around the work you are seeking to do and then getting the people to work with you to achieve the vision. Management is making sure that the day-to-day operation is in line with the vision. Communication is better face to face as so many more messages are conveyed through tone, body language, facial expressions than can ever be communicated through an email no matter how many emojis you put in them.
