ABSTRACT

For some teenagers the transition will be fairly uneventful as they get on with their development both physically and emotionally without causing too many problems for themselves or those around them. For others this will not be the case, and the years that are meant to be helping them lay a platform for adulthood will in fact become very turbulent. The journey teenagers are travelling at this point in time is unlike any other in the history of the human race and their emotional and social mind is ill-equipped for all the fast paced, family and economic problems and insecurities the modern world now generates. Some teenagers may have had experiences that have made them wary of adults, having been let down by them in the past. Teenagers will present different behaviours week by week and month by month because of the many changes in their brain.
