ABSTRACT
The concept of smart grid nurtured various demand side management strategies for maximum utilization of renewable energy sources. The scope of information communication technology in facilitating efficient grid operation in this regard is showcased in this chapter. Demand response and its advanced version called as demand dispatch are introduced here. A demand dispatch framework has been fully developed and demonstrated. The scheme is validated on a smart microgrid emulator in the laboratory as well as is implemented on a DC microgrid on rooftop. While the chapter is the first hand report of the most recent research on the topic, the bibliography provides useful links to the background work.
