ABSTRACT

Providing mental health services to older adults at home is a relatively new, innovative, non-traditional, and in-demand service delivery model. This chapter will discuss how to develop this type of model. Practice concerns that are unique to this care delivery model and that are reviewed include: (1) information about how Medicare and Medicaid programs fund and impact (directly and indirectly) how mental health care can be provided to older adults at home; (2) how to ensure that the care is appropriate, competent, effective, ethical, and safe to provide in the home; and (3) information about how providing home care influences marketing, charting, and billing policy and procedures.
