ABSTRACT

Water is precious as it is widely used in many segments such as agricultural, industrial, household, recreational, and environmental. The accessibility of fresh water is one of the utmost emerging concerns. The world population raised by threefold in the last century from 2.2 billion to more than 5 billion and it is projected to reach 8.9 billion by 2,050. However, water availability decreased from 6,363 cubic meter per capita to 2,333 cubic meter per capita. Countries that are in semiarid and arid regions are often in a critical situation concerning fresh water availability (Calvache et al., 1997; Cresswell and Paydar, 1996; Department of Economic and Social Affairs Population Division, 2017).
