ABSTRACT

In the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016, the stone wall of Kumamoto Castle has reached 30% of the total, but the cause of the damage is not clear. Therefore, in this paper, the structure of each stone wall and the back ground were classified into three types of stone base, semi-stone base and non-stone base type, and the relationship between the shape and damage ratio was analyzed. As a result, it was revealed that the damage mechanism of Kumamoto Castle stone wall was the main cause of the collapse of the stone base type, and the shocking induced the collapse.
