ABSTRACT

Heat transfer analysis of phase change materials (PCMs), is a challenging task due to their unique thermochemical properties and the complexity of their operation. The aim of this chapter is to provide information about mathematical relations that are used to investigate the thermal performance of PCM. The chapter provides an up-to-date information regarding the modeling of thermophysical properties of the PCM, which is varying with their phase change. Various relations are suggested to improve the thermophysical properties of PCM with additives. Further, the studies have been discussed, which are used these relations to investigate the performance of the systems integrated with PCM to optimize the cost efficiency, material and design of the system.
