ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. When the authors issued a call for chapters for the book, they set out four areas of particular interest and invited submissions addressing these areas: indigeneity, Indigenous knowledge and sustainability; history of Indigenous sovereignty and rights; indigenous governance, sustainability and wellbeing; and Indigenous enterprise. Adding to the richness of the exploration of the four areas above, geographically these chapters cover North, Central and South America, Northern Europe, the Circumpolar Arctic, Southern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania and a resulting diverse set of Indigenous People.
