ABSTRACT

Malaysia is a country which is mostly popular for its halal products and which exports the halal products worldwide using air cargo service or, in other words, air freight service. The halal products from Malaysia are not only foods and beverages but also cosmetics and health care products. Malaysian halal products have become popular because of halal verification from halal JAKIM, which is well known worldwide for its quality standard and halal assurance pipeline. Essentially, most of halal products will undergo a period where they need to remain in warehouse before being distributed to the retailer or customer. So, in order to sustain halal product status, halal products not only use halal transport for their movement, but also need to have halal warehouse for their storage before being distributed to retailer and customer. Unfortunately, in Malaysia, there are only a few of them which are certified by JAKIM as halal warehouse; this service is so limited to halal product manufacturers to keep their products. Therefore, this chapter tends to discuss the factors which imbed the warehouse operators in implementing halal standard at their warehouse. This chapter will also discuss the factors to achieve halal compliance for air cargo warehouse which will increase motivation for warehouse operators in implementing halal warehouse in future. The factors discussed in this chapter are basically from a Halal warehouse operator’s perspective.
