ABSTRACT
The growth of Internet access among libraries and library vendors provides opportunities for libraries to reexamine the processes they use to acquire materials. This paper describes the manner in which processes were altered in the Acquisitions Department of the Pennsylvania State University Libraries when access to a vendor’s in-house system was provided. Criteria for evaluating the benefits and costs of incorporating vendor systems and databases into work processes are also discussed.
