ABSTRACT

Currently, phytochemicals are an important source of drug discovery in recent research for curing various forms of metabolic disorders and diseases including cancer. From this study, data were analyzed to explore the secondary metabolites from herbs with potent cancer treatment property. Functional lead compounds were manually mined from the phytochemical database. We selected two families’ viz., Rutaceae, and Zingiberaceae to identify functional lead compounds for the development of anti-cancer drugs. The three plant species from Rutaceae (Aegle marmelous, Citrus sinensis, and Citrus limon), three plant species from Zingiberaceae family (Amomum xanthioides, Curcuma longa, and Zingiber officinale) are possessed many bioactive compounds with curative effects of cancer. From these 6 plants, many phytocompounds were identified as anticancer, anticarcinogenic antitumor, and cancer preventive. The present study focused on the leads for the development of anticancer drugs from herbs.
