ABSTRACT

South Asia is presently confronting with numerous human security issues and its gravity is going to increase in the near future. If these challenges are not addressed urgently, they can lead to instability in the region. The human security issues in the region can be tackled if South Asian countries adopt ‘sustainable livelihood’ or ‘inclusive development’ which eventually would lay a path towards sustainable development. For transforming our tomorrow need is to adopt a ‘bottom-up’ approach to sustainable development instead of the conventional ‘top-down’ approach. Since every country in South Asia is embedded with the challenges of Human security issues, to confront them the countries in the region have to communicate, cooperate and collectively search for solutions. The chapter focuses on the experience of sustainable livelihood or integrated development model from India by making a case study of village Hiware Bazar in Maharashtra.
