ABSTRACT

This chapter critically evaluates eight significant papers on the topic of erotic and erotized transferences. Spanning a hundred-year period, this survey of the literature shows how psychoanalytic theory has presented the idea of ‘transference-love’ and has continued to evolve in thinking about erotic transferences. The chapter also demonstrates how the literature has advised to work clinically with erotic transferences and countertransferences and offer our patients relief from their internal fixations.
