ABSTRACT
Commercial health insurance plays an important role in China’s multi-tiered medical security system. It improves levels of health security for China’s citizens, spurs innovations in public administration, and furthers social stability and harmony. It improves levels of health security for China’s citizens, spurs innovations in public administration, and furthers social stability and harmony. This chapter discusses that a thorough look at the current situation of the supply of commercial health insurance in China is required. It provides information on various aspects of insurance, including commercial health insurance, the basis of commercial health insurance supply, and the role of commercial health insurance in developing the medical security system. The chapter also discusses the case studies of Jiangyin City and Taicang City, two cities that chose to have insurance companies provide their critical illness insurance.
