ABSTRACT

Why should we need or want to save, to deconstruct, and to reconstruct the Body of Christ, whether in a cosmic shape or not? For what reasons do we need to keep this metaphor alive, or revive it? While working on this theme, I was confronted with an inner resistance I could not have imagined and certainly did not expect when accepting the invitation to participate in this project. What caused the reluctance to work on the theme of the Cosmic Body of Christ, and why did the inspiration to find an approach to the theme constantly slip away? It is therefore that, instead of offering a clear, coherent, and well-organized paper, I shall present tentative and unfinished reflections on sacramental and incarnational presence and the Cosmic Body of Christ.
