ABSTRACT

While this book has provided many new perspectives on how The Spectrum has been used, this chapter suggests a number of research initiatives aimed at addressing recommended Spectrum deficiencies and ideas for moving in a direction that continues to allow further development of The Spectrum. The chapter briefly covers the very recent concept of Canopy design styles and suggests ways The Spectrum Inventory could be used in assisting professional development of both teachers and coaches. The authors also provide a different perspective to the representation of The Spectrum as a linear model by suggesting that the objective along with the student (and the characteristics they bring) be placed at the centre of the model and The Spectrum placed around them. The chapter’s final suggestion for new research proposes that The Spectrum should be applied to other teaching areas as it is not just a physical education model, it is a model for effective teaching in general.
