ABSTRACT
This paper contains information related to the scientific literature on herbs, a group of plants important in the medicinal, perfume, culinary, and dye industries. Background information on the literature, use, and economic value of herbs is reported in the introduction and a detailed historical section. Problems associated with herbal literature are identified with suggestions for their resolution. Journals, monographs, conferences, government publications, computer databases, and other information sources are evaluated. Specific recommendations are offered to assist the reader in developing a scientific literature collection to support research on herbs.
