ABSTRACT

Creating a successful library is more than architecture, or engineering, or interior design. It is a multi-disciplinary effort that coordinates the design and problem-solving capabilities of all three disciplines to create a space for people. With a team of professionals working together, rather than in isolation, design ideas can be tested and refined, and potential problems can be avoided. The final design can be a truly integrated solution that meets the library’s needs, functions smoothly and productively, and provides a pleasant work environment for its staff and users.
