Computer Searching of Chemical Databases by Faculty and Students at the University of Rochester

Since 1979 senior chemistry majors at the University of Rochester have learned to search chemical databases online. In 1984 this instruction was extended to faculty, graduate students and other research staff in several University departments. This article discusses the promotion, objectives, teaching techniques, logistics, and impact of the program.
