ABSTRACT

The 1988 National Online Meeting, held in May in New York City, featured 76 technical papers, product reviews, exhibits, and a wide variety of satellite events. More than 120 exhibits and 90 product reviews provided conference-goers with information on the spectrum of online and optical databases and services. A new feature this year, the CD-ROM Gallery, offered exhibits and demonstrations of optical products from database publishers, hardware vendors, and CD-ROM distributors. Several technical sessions continued the trend from last year, with presentations about CD-ROM technology. A new topic was introduced this year: hypertext, specifically as related to online searching.
