ABSTRACT

There are two nations in the present day, that have entered the career of heroism and liberty, and have boldy sought to inrol their names with the most illustrious periods of Athens and Rome. There is sense in which readers happy country has nothing to do with character of successive administrations. The character of the persons who now direct the affairs of this country can never be music to their ear. In regard of the docility and the improvement of their pupil, the ostensible first minister of England, if he had partially withheld all marks of it from his native foil, Ireland however would be a sufficient witness of his rapid progress, and his speedy promise of consummate perfection. From Great Britain, the center of empire, the author turns his attention to Ireland. This country, though long recorded in the annals of the world, may be affirmed not to have begun her career through various stages from barbarism to refinement.
