ABSTRACT

Organic solar cells (OSCs) are promising next-generation photovoltaic devices and have attracted much attention because they are thin, light, flexible, of low price, of rich source, and can be easily produced with the modern chemical industry. This chapter first introduces the brief history of OSCs, lists the types of different OSCs, discusses the characteristics of OSCs, explains the mechanism of OSCs, and provides the key parameters of OSCs. Finally, we will give examples, including fullerene- and non-fullerene-based OSCs, and talk about the newest signs of progress until the end of 2019.
