ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 involves presentation of two practical applications of MMDEA. One application contemplates research carried out in a goods productive system (Section 7.1), whereas the second application refers to research conducted in a service provision system (Section 7.2). The goods productive system is the Product Engineering and Productive Process of a bus manufacturer. The service provision system refers to the aforementioned operation of an enterprise that works with automotive fleet management. The process of applying MMDEA to each system reveals the step-by-step procedure for development of a conceptual model that may provide a research design to illustrate the analysis. In this procedure, constant interaction between the researcher and the managers is suggested. Later, it is shown how to execute the primary modeling steps, such as definition of the DMU, input and output variables, orientation (input and output), and models (CRS/VRS). Finally, ways to analyze the results obtained are explored.
