ABSTRACT
This paper examines the economic situation of the Nation and agriculture’s use of technology transfer to improve its competitiveness in the global marketplace. Information is viewed as an economic resource and thus the roles of libraries and information professionals are perceived to be important to the technology transfer process. The National Agricultural Library, U.S. Department of Agriculture, is examining its Federal role in technology transfer and examples of its activities are discussed.
