ABSTRACT

I bring a strong bias to the subject of the future of the library as a physical entity. Despite predictions by others to the contrary, I firmly believe there is a future for libraries as places and while there will certainly be many changes in the ways that people acquire and use information, and many changes in the role and nature of libraries themselves, I find it impossible to conceive of a time when there will not be a physical, tangible, usable entity with real books and real people inside.
