ABSTRACT

In the present global condition population is increasing at a high rate. Along with this, the development works and need for constructions also increase. But the availability of natural resources is diminishing too. That’s the main reason for the introduction of various replacement methods in construction and concrete technology. Perlite is an amorphous volcanic glass formed by the crystallization of volcanic magma. Perlite has various physical properties like thermal insulation, fire and thermal resistance, superior strength, good acoustic features and amazing resistance to spalling. By using perlite as a replacement for the fine aggregate in conventional concrete, we can improve the properties and features of the hardened concrete and improve the HVAC conditions of the building. This research investigates the improvement of perlite added concrete in strength parameters and thermal properties of the building. M40 mix specimens were prepared and thermal, strength parameters were tested and analyzed. The necessary investigation carried out in perlite blended concrete will helps in the feasibility study and verification of a more eco-friendly and sustainable green concrete production
