ABSTRACT
Microbial presence in the air is a severe reason for the spreading of many infectious diseases. Even though there are many sterilization methods at present they are not effective enough to control the spread of most infections. Viruses, bacteria, fungus, and protozoa’s are the main disease- causing microbes. The microbes can spread and affect humans through several ways based on their life cycle, cell structure, reproductive methods etc. Bacterium and virus enter a body through air, animal bites, contaminated food or water and by direct contact from the patient. This paper deals with disinfection of air from microbes that can be achieved by several methods like physical, chemical or by the combination of both. Most air purifiers include a combination of physical and chemical methods to purify the air passing through it. In the chemical method of disinfection the microbes are destroyed by poisoning them whereas in the physical method of disinfection the microbes are destroyed by exposing them to extreme environments.
