ABSTRACT

What I would like to say here is structured into two sections. In the first section I flash back to some historical moments during which the concept of identity appears. In this context, I support the thesis that this concept is burdened with attempts at coping with historical traumata; however, in a way which cannot be deciphered by the concept itself. Rather, the concept of identity is a symptomatic consequence of grave historical crises of violence. The concept hides the possibilities of historical remembrance.
