ABSTRACT

‘Social responsibility,’ by definition, presupposes that “an organization or individual has an obligation to act to benefit society at large”. The literary machine thus becomes the relay for a revolutionary machine-to-come, not at all for ideological reasons but because the literary machine alone is determined to fill the conditions of a collective enunciation that is lacking elsewhere in this milieu”. Studying carefully the many lessons from Asare’s early experiences in life that later act as catalysts for his children’s story books, one can find in the phenomena of his success overlapping parallels that characterize the work of a gifted mind. The awareness Sosu gains from learning new things his age mates who are privileged to go to school learn whenever his siblings return home gives him a sort of redemption. Besides the act of striking the drums to alert others of danger, Sosu’s act helps him to fulfill an instinctive commitment to the preservation of human lives.
