ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to use play as a strategy to help blocked creatives push through problems or questions they are having trouble resolving in their work. It encourages creatives to get out of the mindset of work and into the mindset of play to reveal possible solutions and opportunities to developing work and solving creative problems. One way to dislodge all possibilities in a practical way is to work with and against time to reveal solutions to the creative problems coaches are facing. Creative problems can include not knowing what to do next in work, not knowing how to get their characters out of a predicament, not knowing how to further the plot, or not knowing how coaches really feel about what they are writing or creating. Having the large pieces of paper to look at together is also incredibly helpful for making connections and developing possible leads.
