ABSTRACT

Coaches can use the exercise as a preparation ritual any time they intend to create something. Start in the space where they will be creating, and eliminate as many distractions as possible. Coaches can read through the ritual first and then take themself through it, or they can record themself describing the steps beforehand. Avoid any background music, since listening to the sounds in their environment is an important part of the ritual. Set up their workspace ahead of time so coaches can transition directly from this ritual into their creation. The exercise is ideally suited for home use. Simply follow the instructions, either as they are or modified to suit coaches' style and purposes. Shift their attention to the sounds coaches can hear around them, maybe even the sound of their own breath.
