ABSTRACT

Reference librarians face an increasingly complex work environment, with much of the complexity driven by the rapid expansion of electronic technologies. Staff development and continuing education must be considered a high priority as databases change and proliferate in online, CD-ROM, and other forms. This article discusses the common types of online training currently available, outlines some things to include or think about when developing in-house programs, and covers some special elements to consider when end users are the potential trainees.
