ABSTRACT
The curriculum of schools of library and information science, as well as the suitability of their graduates for employment are topics that have been, and hopefully will continue to be, discussed. This paper further addresses these aforementioned issues by discussing the competencies needed by entry-level professionals in public libraries and school library media centers, and the present and future role of schools of library and information science in providing employers with fully qualified professionals.
