ABSTRACT

The Indiana Newspaper Bibliography was the result of a special project of the Indiana Historical Society, carried out between 1978 and 1981. The Bibliography contains the following information for each newspaper published in Indiana between 1804 and 1980: (1) an historical narrative that includes the place of publication; all known titles; publication frequency; establishment, merger, and termination dates; political and special-interest affiliation; languages used if other than English; and all known editors and publishers, and (2) holdings information with data on original and microfilm copy locations. With the publication of the Indiana Newspaper Bibliography, researchers now have access to detailed information on each of Indiana’s 8,000 newspaper titles. Thus loss of time and duplicated efforts throughout the state have been reduced.
