ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the dynamic in Colombia with respect to mental health through the lenses of sustainable development goals 3 (SDG3) and service-users, suggesting key elements for other countries, particularly in Latin America, to help them address this objective of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. It focuses on the recent challenges in Colombia after the cessation of one of the longest conflicts in recent history. Referring to studies, programmes, policies and legal frameworks, the chapter explains how psychosocial disability is viewed and supported in the Colombia. Peace, equality and education are the key pillars established by the current government, and they are in harmony with the implementation of the SDGs, along with effective responsibility and social commitment. Goal 3 of the SDGs presents nine specific targets that seek to promote wellbeing and ensure a healthy lifestyle for everyone of all ages.
