ABSTRACT

The prelaunch of Malaysia massive open online courses (MOOC), which took place on September 19, 2014, marked the beginning of MOOC “fever” among the public institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. Malaysia is the first country in the world to implement an MOOC initiative for its public universities. Through this initiative, compulsory courses for all first-year students in public universities can be delivered using the same platform. The idea of sharing common materials fits the nature of UiTM, which has students all over the country. The university plans to have its own MOOC platform to host its courses. Therefore, lecturers need to be trained to become e-content developers. A standard approach and design to develop e-content is also necessary. Since this process is new, Malaysia MOOC is used as a reference to develop the approach and design of UiTM MOOC. This chapter describes the process of developing a standard approach and design of UiTM MOOC.
