ABSTRACT

Providing better access and learning experiences for learners’ education across the spectrum has always been Malaysia’s significant strategy when developing its nation. This chapter presents how one university embarked on its transformational journey in mediating its academicians’ understanding of the use of online learning approaches and experiences while still placing student-centered learning as central. Taking a collaborative management approach, this chapter discusses four essential dimensions while supporting and encouraging the development and the use of MOOC, which includes establishing related policies and guidelines, enabling technology exposure and infrastructure, organizing inspirational academician training of effective student-centered learning approaches, and ensuring evidence-based practice. While the planning and execution of these efforts were done in stages, the amalgamation of the transformation occurred in a dynamic manner. However, it is through the collaborative effort from various parties involved that the fruits of success begin to emerge, although many challenges and obstacles need to be addressed initially. Infusing the notion of collaborative management approach in managing education via online student-centered learning, a model is proposed in ensuring that the vision in enhancing the academicians’ as well as students’ capacity to learn in the higher learning context can be truly obtained.
