ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the Malaysia Massive Open Online Courses (Malaysia MOOCs) pilot initiative at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), where the iterative ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) model was integrated to drive the development of the MOOC. The chapter starts with the state of the art of MOOCs in global and local scenarios and describes the backgrounds of Malaysia MOOCs and the UKM MOOC initiative. The chapter then continues with a discussion of the policy influencing the development of the UKM-MOOC and the development process with the iterative ADDIE model. The chapter ends with the implementation of the UKM-MOOC and discussions of issues and future directions.
