ABSTRACT

In the present study, thin films based on the blend of silk fibroin (SF) and collagen were prepared by evaporation of the solvent and their properties were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Additionally, the swelling ability was measured. It was found that SF film has higher thermal stability than collagen film. Materials made from SF and collagen was wettable. The addition of SF to collagen decreases the swelling ability of the material. The hair protection possibility of SF/ collagen was studied using scanning electron microscopy imaging (SEM) and the mechanical testing of hair coated by the blends.
