ABSTRACT

A study into the effectiveness of rebar treated with an oil-based corrosion inhibiting spray (Q30 and B’Laster Corrosion Stop) Samples were placed in a simulated sea water bath and monitoring the corrosion or degree of lack thereof via mass and resistivity measurements for a period of time. It was concluded that oil-based spray coating for this application, isn’t suitable, due to the feasibility effects of per-coat drying time–with repeated coating being imperative, compromising of coat performance through handling, the “non-drying” nature of coats which would affect concrete bonding ability. Cold Dynamic Spray Treatment will only be presented theoretically and results will be presented as a follow up to this conference paper.
