ABSTRACT

The skills shortage has become a key challenge for the hospitality industry. Employers face increasing difficulties in attracting and retaining skilled employees. In order to deal with this challenge successfully, employers need to invest in strategic and professional Human Resources (HR) Management. However, small and medium-sized enterprises usually lack the resources for that. Based on an empirical case study, the chapter conceptualizes a regional HR approach to attracting and retaining employees. It focuses on building a regional HR alliance as a key component and outlines strategic fields of action on an employer level, a regional and a cross-regional level.
