ABSTRACT
There has been a recent explosion of development in the area of autonomous systems, or systems that are considered to self-sufficient in an operating context and self-directed in function. These systems can range from independent mechanical and biological agents (or “things”) in an environment to teams of both mechanized/computerized systems with humans acting together to deliver specific functions to task performance.
