ABSTRACT

This chapter describes to lend meaning to the title: "Weaving bonds: Tempo Lineare, a school for life". In order for parents of a new baby to participate in Tempo Lineare in the first year of the baby's life, the parents acknowledge their fundamental importance to the child. Children express all their innermost, unverbalised feelings in their play and their drawings. The drawings facilitate viewing the inner self in another, more objective way. Psychoanalytic, cognitive, developmental, and neuroscience research helps to deeply analyse the development of the mind from the very start of the mother–child relationship, which begins in the uterus, through very specific physical channels. The quality of the mother–child relationship is also a crucial factor in the development of symbolic thought. The ability to be empathically attuned to the child and to react to his emotional states is a guarantee of the quality and solidity of the security of his attachment.
