ABSTRACT

This chapter approaches complex issues about same-sex parenting, gender definition in children, and filiation, which is based not only on biology, but also on the scientific progress that affects the individual and his origins. The issue of same-sex parenting is controversial both socially and among psychoanalysts. It invites agreements and disagreements and, what is more, there is no consensus about it in all cultures. One of the forms of parenting, "same-sex parenting", is a reality that has been silenced for years, as the numerous consultations sought by divorced parents who have then come out and established homosexual or lesbian relationships amply show. The position taken on same-sex parenting is closely connected to that on homosexuality. Heterosexuality and homosexuality are regarded as different object choices and, thus, homosexuality is separated from perversion, which can manifest itself in different individuals beyond their sexual object choice.
