"A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step"
A number of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, and counsellors participated, speaking about their work and what it entailed. They discussed the choices available to people seeking therapy and what to look for when choosing a therapist, as well as the institutions that existed where such help could be found. This chapter examines the case study of Lavinia. Her therapist in the States had been a man who had died suddenly before their work ended, some years before she moved back to England with her American husband from California. All the clients had a severe physical illness but had come to WPF due to their psychological needs. A pattern emerged over the years of greater activity and involvement in her life, during the warmer sunnier months, and a slowing down into depression during the long dark days of late autumn and winter, even though she did her best to keep as active as possible.
